Architectural
Slide Show / Architectural Tour
Interested in viewing the interior of the Prairie School
style homes that are owned by local residents? The
architectural slide show, held at the Charles H. MacNider
Art Museum, is the perfect way to see the inside and
also view historical photos of each Prairie School
style home located in the community. Plus, the presentation
includes historical information and photos regarding
The Park Inn Hotel and the City National Bank, both
designed by Wright. In addition, the show explains Frank Lloyd Wright's
design style and other recognizable features of the
Prairie School design. Special tour features
include information about Wright's designed Prairie
School residential home, bank building and the only
remaining hotel in the world designed by Wright - all
located in Mason City, Iowa! Plus, learn the
colorful details about the Rock Glen and Rock Crest
area located in the community, the largest collection
of Prairie School style homes on a unified site, and
the leaders who made the neighborhood what it is today.
If the group would like to view the exteriors of many
of the homes featured in the slide show presentation, a 3 ½ block walking tour can be provided of
the Rock Glen / Rock Crest area or the guide can board
the coach to provide a brief overview of the
area.
