DAY
ONE
Morning:
The group will begin their day by enjoying an architectural slide show
presentation, which features the vast architectural
heritage in the community. The main emphasis of the presentation
is the interior and exterior of the Frank Lloyd Wright and
Prairie School style designed buildings in the community.
The group will then continue their quest for knowledge on
an architectural guided tour
of the Rock Crest & Rock Glen area, the largest group
of Prairie School designed homes on a unified site. This
tour also includes a visit to the Park Inn Hotel, the only
remaining hotel in the world designed by Wright built in
1910; and the City National Bank building, completed at
the same time as the hotel.
Afternoon:
Take a break from the day's activities at one of the numerous
restaurants in the area, which cater to every palate and
pocketbook. After lunch, a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Stockman House
is a must! Constructed in 1908, this restored Frank Lloyd
Wright designed home is the first and only Prairie School
house designed by Wright in Iowa.
