Ralph Moose named 2017 People's Choice
People’s Choice Winner Announced
The votes are in! "Ralph Moose" has been named the winner of the River City Sculptures on Parade 2017 People's Choice award.
"Ralph Moose", a sculpture of a shy moose, is the work of Martha Pettigrew of Kearney, NE and is now on permanent display in front of Moorman Clothiers. The sculpture is one of 48 sculptures exhibited throughout Downtown Mason City.
The City of Mason City has agreed to purchase "Ralph Moose" to be added to the community's permanent collection. The sculpture walk is a 1.7 mile loop designed to lead participants on a looping route of Mason City's "Cultural Crescent" and back to the central core of Downtown.
Reports from the non-profit group River City Sculptures announce there were 342 votes this year, including visitors from 15 states. It was also noted that all 30 sculptures in the competition received votes with the winner receiving two more than the people's choice runner-up - "Mayflower & Puddle Jumper".
Sculptures in the current exhibit are still available for sale or lease, those not purchased or leased will be removed in April 2017. The 2018 exhibit will be installed in early May.
