World Aerobatic Championship

The world's best aerobatic pilots are coming to Mason City! The 33rd FAI World Aerobatic Championship (WAC 2026) will take place in Mason City, Iowa, August 23rd through September 2nd, 2026, bringing one of aviation's most prestigious international competitions to the Mason City Municipal Airport.

Recognized as the premier event in competitive aerobatics, the World Aerobatic Championship showcases the highest level of precision flying as elite pilots from around the globe compete for individual and team honors. Throughout the competition, pilots will perform a series of challenging aerobatic sequences that are judged on technical accuracy, execution, and overall precision, demonstrating extraordinary skill, discipline, and control in the skies above North Iowa. FREE and Open to the Public!

There will be dedicated areas around the airport on a first-come, first-served basis for viewing the championship. There is ample greenspace for lawn chairs. All spectators will have access to free parking. The primary parking will be in the terminal parking area with an overflow option in the grass.
