Mason City is fortunate to be the host community for some of the greatest performances all presented in the comfortable atmosphere of the North Iowa Community Auditorium with seating capacity for 1,200 guests. The entertainment lineup offers something for everyone including national touring productions featuring cultural dancing, award winning musicals, motivational speakers, and holiday events for the entire family. Primarily Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota
The North Iowa Community Auditorium was originally opened in 1979. Over the years, offerings grew and changed from community events to international tours. North Iowa Area Community College created a group in 1998 to manage an official season of events in the Auditorium alongside the college and community's local events. This became the NIACC Performing Arts & Leadership Series. In 2005 NIACC and the Series renovated the stage and fly space to accommodate for larger productions, and in 2020 they took advantage of the nation-wide Covid-19 closures to renovate the house and seating to include additional aisles. Funded by sponsors and ticket sales, the Series has grown to offer National Broadway Tours, world-class speakers, hilarious comedians, fantastic music, and more.
