DAY ONE

Morning

Discover the fascinating story of Bil Baird, a renowned puppeteer and Mason City native, whose creations, including the iconic puppets from *The Sound of Music*, are on display.

Afternoon

Celebrate Mason City’s musical heritage at the Meredith Willson Boyhood Home and The Music Man Square. Learn about Willson’s creation of the beloved holiday classic “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and enjoy the festive décor while immersing yourself in his legacy of timeless songs and productions.

Evening

Check in at your preferred hotel, then savor a delicious dinner at a local restaurant paired with live entertainment. Enjoy performances featuring songs from "The Music Man" and holiday classics, including Willson’s seasonal hit. Alternatively, attend one of the many holiday events, such as Clear Lake’s Christmas by the Lake, a Mason City Community Theater production, or a performance by the North Iowa Performing Arts Series. For a cozy option, indulge in wine sampling and toast to the season!

Start the day with a guided Architectural Tour of Mason City. Whether by motorcoach or with a video presentation, explore the Rock Crest-Rock Glen Historic District, the largest unified grouping of Prairie School architecture. Admire Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs blanketed in winter snow. Then, enjoy time to browse Mason City and Clear Lake’s unique specialty shops for holiday treasures.

Afternoon
